Park West Gallery Contracted Auctioneers Speak Out

Article #10

Park West Gallery Insider's Story

Recently two more Park West Gallery auctioneers contacted us and gave us some further insight into the ways of the Park West Gallery art auction. This material is published here to help potential auction goers walk into the auction with their eyes wide open.

We have been unable to confirm this information with Park West since their attorney, the legendary Robert Goldman, America's (or is it the world's) most feared prosecutor of all times, informed us that we must not ask anyone at Park West Gallery any questions or communicate with the executives or staff in any way (perhaps because of the stress they are under and one more communication might push them over the edge, or perhaps because they are trying to avoid perjuring themselves). But the reports match others we received and we are confident that they are accurate.

Auctioneer 1

Comments: Two big name PW old boys are now running the training program in Miami. Stoney Goldstein, the #1 auctioneer and the biggest investment seller in PW history is the new sales manager replacing Vanessa McGovern who was terminated.

His number two guy is Paul Bielby, national sales manager. This guy is also a big investment seller. He once was reprimanded by Morris Shapiro at a conference in Michigan for a presentation in front of nearly every auctioneer saying "tick tock tick tock" referring to Marcel Mouly and his being 89 and when he dies soon the art will go way up.

Oceania cruise line was lost and Park West is off those three ships. Fleet Manager Gordon Marshall was fired from Park West because his line wasn't producing. Hayden Fraser left to work for Vanessa McGovern at her Florida based travel agency "Vanessa's vacations".

The dirtiest snake oil Salesman Justin Zinchini is now on the new CCL (Carnival Cruise Lines) Splendor. This caused some worries with higher ups in Park West since CCL line is the most concerned about investment selling auctioneers. I guess they want to boost sales on CCL so they are willing to take the risk. Justin is known as the worst of the worst in regards to his tactics.

Your previous article mentioned Ducat and Marchand are running the land program but the main boss is David Teeman. David was fired two years ago when he slept with a top level VIP client's wife at a national VIP event. I guess Albert decided to forgive him since he needs the land program when he loses the ship contracts.

It's important to note a large percentage of PW sales comes from its weekly regional and national VIP events on land. The attendees are all previous buyers from cruise ships and Park West rarely shares this revenue with the cruise line unless the event is conducted on one of the half dozen yearly ship VIP events.

Interesting that PW is finding these buyers on cruise ships and inviting them to land events to spend the big money keeping 100% versus giving the cruise line a share.

Auctioneer 2

I was approached by another Park West Auctioneer the other day via Facebook and he is 'miffed' to say the least with all the revelations, etc. He has mooted the idea of us taking action against Park West based on the outright fraudulent statements and untruths that were told to us.

My personal feelings are one of shame that I could be part of this. I was myself a true believer in what Park West was saying to me (as were all of us) and it disturbs me greatly that I was caught up in this scandalous practice.

I still cannot believe that the cruise companies are allowing Park West to stay on board. Either they know something that we all do not know or they are just 'hedging'.

I am sure the worst case scenario for them is a few paltry million that they will have to pay out. Although I would be very concerned as to the potential PR fallout that these companies could endure. There are other concessions on board that are questionable, e.g. jewelry. These guys use the 'Investment' word more times than Tiger Woods has had a different woman, and I have seen obscene amounts of money parted with to purchase diamonds and tanzanite, etc.

Interesting reading regarding the relationships between Park West and the cruise lines. There seems to be a push to prove that the cruise lines have more than a 'landlord interest ' in Park West affairs. Of course that has never been in question.

In 2005 I was 'counseled' (told off) by Jack Sweetman for saying some things that were potentially going to get Park West in serious caca with Carnival HQ. Jack was sent on a world trip to counsel all of the auctioneers to stop us saying certain things that they had previously thought were great selling lines as used by their old school boys.

Jack was very angry at me. To prove a point and one of the things he said to me in his tirade was "Carnival is worth $100 Million to Park West so let's not screw this up." Basically the chickens were coming home to roost for Park West and they (PW) were attempting to rein in the auctioneers. We were using the words "Investment" more times than a McDonalds employee would say "do you want fries with that."

I had learned from their Obi Wan Auctioneers (ex-casino, toilet cleaners, cruise staff, Steiner girls, Shoppies) Park West had created these monsters and now they were trying to round them up. I note that the guy at the helm now is Stoney Goldstien. I trained with him. He was a trumpet player in the band on ships and he has made more money selling 'INVESTMENT GRADE ART' than anyone in the Park West Cult.

He singlehandedly could solve the world famine crisis with his commissions from his sales.

Carnival is so deep into Park West and Park West has spent a small fortune wining and dining their appropriate managers to ensure continuity.

I was wondering have you had any talk about Chris Lindsay (trainer manager). He was Stoney's Obi Wan for a while and was the most aggressive trainer I have ever seen.

He would regularly tear strips off newbes and have them blubbering (including the guys). I wonder if he is still on the scene, he was there in 2007. He is a English guy who has been with Park West for a long time, is married to an American. His famous quote was 'You will make more money than GOD.'

Without question the training was geared all around getting 'Plebs' into a feeding frenzy so as soon as they were unleashed upon the poor unsuspecting passengers they were like young lion cubs tearing, slashing and removing all potential monies from these victims.

Stoney was and is the zen master of this. For a vertically challenged man he was certainly mercenary and very financially successful. It all came down to his system. It was, to not put too fine a point on it 'lethal'. Like a laser guided missile, it was designed to maximize money extraction in the shortest possible time (remember they are on these ships for a very short time).

All the auctioneers could be heard at conference, "How the f___ does Stoney get such huge sales?" "I wish I could spend a week with him on a ship." This was coming from auctioneers that have been with Park West longer than Stoney.

More to follow. Stay tuned.
